A member of Team Rainbow, Doc's friendly attitude and willingness to lend a helping hand has earned the trust of his teammates.
The MPD-0 Stim Pistol that he carries can inject medicine at a distance, providing aid to injured teammates.
Imaging tests reveal clear, normal outlines of internal organs, and no abnormal shadows have been detected. Originium granules have not been detected in the circulatory system and there is no sign of infection. At this time, this operator is believed to be uninfected.

Doc shows no sign of Originium infection.

Operator Gustav 'Doc' Kateb is a member of Team Rainbow. He was involved in the Krysztauowa Incident and became an associate of Rhodes Island following the conclusion of that incident.
Doc is an expert medical practitioner, and always ready to provide necessary aid to a patient, whether in a spotlessly clean clinic, or in the heat of the front lines.
Doc has also demonstrated impressive medical knowledge outside of clinical practice, which has quickly earned him the trust and respect of many at Rhodes Island.
It is worth mentioning that Team Rainbow members are only working with us temporarily. They are not formally employed by Rhodes Island, and with how much they have on their hands, it would not be advisable to call on their help too often.
Those who have conversed with Doc inevitably leave impressed by his friendliness, kindness and patience, whether in casual conversation, work, treatment, or academic discussion.
He often volunteers at the Medical Department, saying it helps him learn more about our patients while reducing Medical's workload. Medical welcomed the addition of another trained doctor, though they soon realized that Doc was more than just trained.
He is well-versed in many fields of medicine, some of which the others have never even heard of, and he has the skilled fingers to match. After a period of acclimation, he has also learned to deal with the various symptoms of Oripathy in accordance with Rhodes Island procedures. Many are hoping that he will spend more time at Rhodes Island.
Doc is really interested in Oripathy—of course, it would be unusual for a practitioner of medicine to not be—but you really ought to see the notes he made on the newest issue of that Oripathy journal.
He has a notebook filled with clippings about the Infected. He's normally such a good-tempered guy, but you could see him seethe with anger at the injustices faced by the Infected. It makes me feel ashamed.
Why am I ashamed?
His anger makes me realize that I've become numb to the persecution of the Infected. It's a much-needed reminder that injustice is injustice, even if all the lands are used to it. I have the right... nay, the responsibility to be angry.
—A Medical Department Operator
For Rhodes Island, Doc is a collaborator, a helping hand, a respectable man. For Team Rainbow, things are even simpler. In his own words, 'My job is to ensure your safety. I don't mind a challenge.'
Doc does not shield everyone like Blitz, cause spectacular explosions like Fuze, achieve his goals with the artistry of Ela, or deliver surprises like Frost, but nothing reassures the members of Team Rainbow like the voice of Doc through their communicator.
He says his job is to ensure the safety of his teammates. And he means it.
[Classified Log]
I had pulled three all-nighters in a row when Doc's request arrived, and I almost fitted a barrel meant for Originium-Keton ammunition onto the stim pistol.
It's still the Team Rainbow weapon that I had the easiest time modifying. It's propelled by high-pressure gas, and works on largely the same principles as standard gas-powered launchers. I modified it to use standard-issue gas canisters, which also necessitated a couple of tweaks to reduce the muzzle velocity, because it's meant to treat the wounded, not to substitute for Gavial's violence.
On another note, please stop submitting Doc's applications to Engineering at the same time as anything from the Doctor! It's so confusing. Doc almost went into battle carrying a freshly repaired water boiler rather than his stim pistol, if Closure hadn't realized that something was off.

'I thank you for saving him. We would be glad to pay you, but... we cannot bring you with us.'
So elaborates an elderly Feline woman, sat in the shade of a wagon's canopy. Beside her lies a light and dirtied mattress, upon which a Lupo man about her age writhes, limbs as if tied in knots. But his face is peaceful enough, and his sweat has more or less subsided—effects of the medicine.
'Don't worry, I promise I won't hold you up. I may even be able to help you further.'
A tan-skinned middle-aged man continues to try and persuade him. He has no obvious racial characteristics, rendering him slightly mysterious.
'Look, we get disasters on this route all the time. That's why it's all us old folks running it. Why should you have to risk it?'
'There's a Catastrophe Messenger in town; I have a map he drew. Your destination should be within comms range of that city. If this is about safety, then all the more reason I should come with you.'
'We... but we only have enough water and rations for ourselves. We don't mean to be stingy, but when supplies are this scarce we can't afford another mouth...'
'I have my own provisions. We just need to follow the route on the map, and you won't run out of food or water. Add in my supplies, and we'll have even more flexibility.'
'This old wagon of ours only sits two at the front. We couldn't possibly trouble you.'
'I can sit with the cargo, I've no problem with that.'
'Well—we'll unload as soon as we get there and there's nothing for us to haul back. If we leave first, you won't have a ride back to Siracusa for quite a while.'
'Doesn't matter, I'll rendezvous with my friends in the city... I just insist on finding my way there alone, that's all. I know you mean well, madam, but you don't need to worry for me. I'm just as concerned for the two of you. Your health, I mean.'
    '......
    '*sigh*
'I know what you're going for. We do see people like you now and then. But that city's people want for everything, and just the little we send them hardly even makes a difference sometimes. You'll see as much if you go; with bad luck, you'll die there yourself... In the end, whether it's the city folk or us outside, we're all good people living tough lives.
'We're old. We're used to it. But why should you have to?'
Gustave Kateb lifts his head and gazes in the direction he's bound for. He cannot see anything resembling a road, and though he hears that it's a gargantuan structure that spits earth, smoke, and dust and is assembled from an array of nomadic plates, no city has yet entered his vision. Only the haze of sand and ash on the horizon, reflected in eyes of the same shade.
'You're not wrong. I still know far too little about this place, and my past experience won't always apply. Even if I'm prepared physically, I have no basis to claim I'm ready mentally.
'But time is short, and there's too much to do. Overthinking this gets me nowhere. So stop trying to talk me out of it and let's go.'
The city's name is Kazdel. To him, the place is completely unfamiliar. Even its name cannot be found in the land of his birth.
But that does not matter. He is a doctor. Whether at home or afar, he is always pressed to go to wherever needs him most.
