Our first impression was that Ave Mujica was merely a student band that had stumbled upon Rhodes Island. Our thinking changed, however, as they blended into Rhodes, and began to ask how they could help.
We were surprised at how quickly Umiri Yahata absorbed new knowledge and put it into practice, and how she took the initiative in communication and working with others, supporting her team in the same way that the bass supports the rest of the band.
She is always calm, never flustered regardless of the situation—at least, so we thought.
'Umiri helps out our planning work here at Rhodes. She'll draft us a whole array of plans, all of them easy to understand and execute on. She's highly reliable, and we owe more than our fair share to her.'
A very fast learner, Umiri quickly earned the trust of many teams with her thorough planning and schedule management.
She is quick to grasp the mission objective and see it through without a hitch, making her the ideal partner.
'She's a serious and brisk worker, but there's always this distance between her and us...' So operators who work with her may feel on occasion, but quickly dismiss it, assuming they're just overthinking it.
It is true that Umiri has kept her distance from those around her, but it is not because she is wary of others.
She was overly eager in her first band, frequently giving instructions that she believed would help the band succeed, but ended up drawing the ire of the other band members, causing the band to fall apart.
It is easy to forget that Umiri is still a young student facing challenges appropriate to her age, so outstanding are her bass skills and management ability.
She pushes herself hard with a schedule that is packed to the brim between work and practice, as well as a rigorous training regimen.
Despite her image of perfection, Umiri can find it stressful when things do not go according to plan. Binge shopping at the Rhodes Island shop is her way of blowing off steam. While the operators there are overjoyed to see her, and take photos of her with both hands full of shopping bags as commemoration, they also remind her not to go overboard with her purchases.

On a subconscious level, Umiri is aware that the reason she cannot establish relations of trust with others is because she cannot bare her true heart to them.
She must overcome her past trauma and step out of her comfort zone, and once again reveal her heart to her friends.

    One day, Ave Mujica are practicing as usual.
    But after running through one song, Sakiko pauses and askes, 'Yahata-san, you seem quite distracted. Is something the matter?'
    Past Umiri has managed her schedule to a T, easily playing for multiple bands at once with room to spare. In recent days, however, she seems almost tired, which the entire band including Sakiko find more than peculiar. Is she still adjusting to working at Rhodes Island?
    Umiri is silent for a spell, then gives her response while still chewing on it. '...I'll deal with it ASAP. I have no intention of causing trouble for any of you.'
    'I see. Well then, let us continue practice.' Sakiko drops the issue, while the others trust that Umiri, being Umiri, can handle whatever the problem she is having is.
    Practice ends, and away from prying eyes, Umiri swiftly makes for a gym. Not the typical training room used by other operators, but a set of older facilities further away from the dorms, and hardly patronized these days.
    Alone in the gym, dinnertime notwithstanding, Umiri uncaps a bottle of protein shake. By all accounts, that is to be her dinner tonight.
    Chugging the tasteless protein drink, Umiri casts an eye over her schedule. Three hours of training first, and then she is finally on break.
    '...That was a slip-up. I'll need to put more effort into adjusting to life here.
    'Kay and the Sankta operators keep inviting me to try out sweets, and it's not like I can refuse. Which means I'll have to double my normal training amount in order to work all the excess off.'
    Letting out a deep sigh, Umiri sets about her final training session of the day.
    The Sanktas of Rhodes Island have taken a great liking to Umiri. Why? Because she is one of the few people who would go out for dessert with them (Ceobe being one of the few others, of course). Most operators politely decline their invitations, but Umiri always accepts happily with genuine enthusiasm.
    Truth is, she is merely being courteous too, and never takes more than a bite or two. Little does she know that those half-hearted nibbles are exactly what have been quietly fueling her rising popularity. Throwing herself into training as she works to maintain her physique, Umiri is none the wiser—her Sankta friends are carrying a Laterano's brand new Sugar Glazed Pudding Butter Croissant Tower (serves ten in Lateran units) and on the hunt for her right this moment.
